Galician Cheese Cake

This recipe from the North-West of Spain is a favourite dessert when you go out to the restaurant with your family or friends. It is creamy, sweet and soft but different and it will leave you wanting more and more.

It is said that this cheese cake was first created from some nuns from a Galician convent using basic ingredients they had at hand. It that was so, I thank them wholeheartedly because it is one of my favourite desserts.

I always liked having cheese cake when we went out to eat. Well, it was a battle between Tarta de Santiago, home made egg crème caramel and home made Galician Cheese cake. It was a hard choice to make.

Luckily, my auntie loved baking and she’d make this cake for us often and would bring it to us to eat. She lived in the same building as us so she only had to get the lift down a few floors to deliver this beauty. And we complied by eating it promptly and not leaving a crumb. She liked that. We liked it more. I can still see her smile while she watched us clean the plates.

This is one of the many recipes which I rescued after she passed away.

Please, enjoy this recipe that comes all the way from my kitchen to you.

I love cooking. I love eating even more. But what I really love are the memories created around food. We carry them through our lives and pass them on to our children and loved ones. I hope you join me in making memorable moments with these recipes.
